Solutions through property development

One groundbreaking idea follows another. Just weeks ago, one might have thought it was all theatre—merely a performance to convince the masses of his omnipotence. But as the days pass (and it hasn’t taken many), it’s becoming clear that this is no laughing matter.

If Biden were saying these things, people would attribute it to the occasional cloudiness that seems to have descended over his once-sharp mind, and they’d rush to bring him back to reality. But it’s Trump saying them, and there’s no one to rein him in. Instead, he’s creating a new reality, forcing humanity to walk on quicksand.

Denmark had long held the crown for having the world’s happiest inhabitants, alternating between first and second place globally. High living standards, an organised society, good day-to-day conditions, democracy, no threats from any quarter.

Then suddenly, without any provocation, they found themselves in a “war zone” because the planet’s most powerful man set his sights on Greenland, Denmark’s colony for centuries.

It’s a frozen island that, as the ice melts, is transforming into vast real estate with untapped resources (and since the climate crisis can’t be reversed, why not exploit it? Tomorrow isn’t our concern—Musk will transport us to other planets).

In Trump’s eyes, Gaza is just another piece of real estate, one that could be transformed into a new Côte d’Azur.

“Gaza will become US property, and the Palestinians—all of them, all 1.7 million—will go elsewhere to live a beautiful life without fearing death each day”.

Their expulsion should be seen as something done for their own good. Otherwise, the bombings might resume, and they’d lose their chance to choose between exile and death.

There are already 1.5 million Palestinian refugees in the wider region, and Trump intends to create another 2 million.

Where will they go? To Jordan, Egypt, and other Arab countries, Trump says: “They say they won’t accept them, but I say they will”, he claimed.

He even maintains he has the support of “world leaders.” Speaking like the developer he is, he describes Gaza as a “demolition site”, promising thousands of jobs.

“We’ll take ownership and handle the disposal of all unexploded bombs and weapons”, he clarified, emphasising that his administration would “clear out” the “destroyed” buildings and “develop” the Gaza Strip.

“It’s not just a plot of land being trespassed upon”, sang Savvopoulos about Cyprus. Yet here we are—everything ultimately treated as real estate ripe for development.
